Dr. Dirk Wallschläger, Associate Professor and Director of the Water Quality Centre at Trent University, presented a very interesting lecture at Brooks Rand Labs on November 20th as part of BRL’s monthly seminar series for the professional development of our staff. Dr. Wallschläger’s presentation, Stable Isotope Ratios – Analysis and Applications, outlined the complexity of the chemistry and the analytical equipment required for such analyses, additionally he described some interesting applications related to isotopic ratio analysis, such as tracing contaminant sources and quantifying contaminant attenuation. Specifically, Dr. Wallschläger discussed the significance of isotopic ratio analyses of speciated metals. If you are interested in isotopic ratio analysis, contact us today to discuss how we can help facilitate these analyses alongside our world-renowned metal speciation analytical services.
Our very own Metals Chemist, Ian Joslin, made his scientific debut at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) North America 35th Annual Meeting by presenting his poster on the Potential Bias in Arsenic Speciation Results for Tissues Prepared by EPA Method 1632 (for a summary, read the poster abstract). His experience was positive and his poster was very well received. Ian commented that SETAC was “a great opportunity to learn more about what is going on in our industry.”
The Northwest Environmental Conference & Tradeshow (NWEC) is the Northwest’s largest and most comprehensive environmental conference and trade show. ‘Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the lab
Three creatures were stirring
Giving batch review one last stab.
The QA was looking good
But results were not right.
Long hours crunching data
To report results that night.
Aha! I heard them exclaim,
Look here, it’s quite clear!
Thank goodness for data validation,
Our clients can now enjoy the holidays and have a Happy New Year.
Thank you to our phenomenal Quality Assurance team: Frank McFarland, Coila Craig, and Ely Bair. Thanks to their arduous hours reviewing every result from every batch of data generated by Brooks Rand Labs, our clients are assured that their reports contain only the highest quality data possible.
Do you have a big project where you need to save time and money? Order a Level II Deliverables Package and let our extremely qualified QA staff do the data validation for you (hint: we already do!).
